How long does it take to scan a typical home?
On average, it takes about 30-45 minutes to scan 1,000 sq.ft., so a typical 2,000 sq.ft. home can be scanned in about 60 to 90 minutes.

Is there a limit to the number of Scans in a Space?
Spaces are currently limited to a maximum of 200 scans.

How large of an area can be scanned?
For residential properties, 200 scans is sufficient to build Spaces up to approximately 10,000 square feet. The exact square footage will vary depending on the layout of the property and furniture.

Scan outdoors?
Yes! 3D Camera can capture exterior spaces with 360° Views. 360° Views are spherical 2D panoramic images that users can view up, down, and all around. They can be accessed directly from your 3D tour, but are not aligned with the rest of your 3D model. Because direct sunlight can interfere with 3D data collection, we recommend using 360° Views for outdoor or sunny areas.

Is special lighting required?
Because we use HDR (high dynamic range) photography to balance dark and light areas of an image, no special lighting or lighting equipment is required. However, direct sunlight can interfere with data collection from the sensor, so we suggest avoiding direct sunlight when possible.

Description

3D camera that is designed to scan the interior of homes, condos or any other indoor space. The software then compiles all of the still images together and creates a virtual tour of the home that actually allows you to walk through the home yourself. You can look up and down, left and right, move forward, backward, and so on.  It allows consumers the ability to virtually tour a property in 3-D from anywhere in the world from their computers, tablets, or even smartphones. This technology provides faster and more effective marketing for selling clients, and offers another tool for showing property listings to clients who are interested in buying a home, especially to those who are not living in Hawaii. For overseas buyers and investors, this is perfect because they wont need to go look at the house in person to get a first impression.

Matterport has 1.2 million unique visitors per month, Matterport CEO Bill Brown, recently told VentureBeat.

Since August of 2014, Redfin announced that in order to make the home buying and selling process easier, faster and more fun, they have partnered with Matterport to create Redfin 3D Walkthrough. This online feature for homes provides a high resolution, interactive view from every angle inside a property. Redfin agents are reporting that using Matterport allows them to get more attention for their clients who are selling homes and results in quicker sales. Also, this technology helps homes listed on Redfin to close 10 days faster and for $5,100 more than comparable homes.

In June 2015, Matterport announced a partnership with real estate leader Zillow.com. Customers are able to view the Matterport 3D video showcase and post it on MLS or their broker’s site. Executives at Zillow confirm that home listings that utilize the Matterport technology receive more views, visits, bids and ultimately sell quicker than those that do not.
